Research Overview

HEDGE research group at TXST focuses on innovative, multidisciplinary approaches to address environmental challenges related to water quality, climate resilience, and public health. Our work spans key areas such as PFAS fate and transport, where we investigate the behavior of these contaminants under diverse geological and climate conditions, and stormwater management, developing biologically active pervious structures to treat runoff pollution. We also explore the impact of climate change on the resiliency of in-situ remediation systems and integrate green infrastructure to enhance firefighter health and safety, particularly concerning PFAS exposure. Through these projects, we are committed to advancing sustainable solutions while fostering workforce development in environmental science and technology.
